Palm Springs Officer Involved Shooting

CREATED JAN. 10, 2013PALM SPRINGS-- An 18-year-old male suspect surrenders to police, after running down three officers with his car. The incident happened around 11:30pm on Thursday night, outside an apartment complex on South Camino Real in Palm Springs.
Officers were watching an unoccupied car believed to be involved in a burglarly, when two people got into the car. That's when police approached the driver and passenger. The passenger was detained and arrested, but the driver resisted, and started an altercation with officers, That's when police say he backed over three officers with his car, and sped away. Police began shooting, but the suspect still drove off, hitting an innocent bystander who has since been treated and released from the hospital.
The three officials involved were also treated and released from the hospital with moderate injuries. All three officers were put on paid leave, while the Riverside County Sheriff's Department investigates.
Anyone with information on this crime, is urged to call police.
